SchoolsMuseumsART (SMART)Project is a teaching resource developed by the Madison Metropolitan School District, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Elvehjem Museum of Art, for the teaching of art history in grades K-5 in Madison and Dane County schools.

SMART teaching kits address eleven important and enduring works of art in the two museum collections and include full-color posters, a 180-page teaching text, and 55 slides. Initiated by MMSD elementary visual arts teachers, SMART materials are intended for use in the classroom and as background for museum field trips. They are available at partners' museum shops.
