Searching K12 at UW On the Search screen, there are several places where you may enter information. You may use all of them, or only one, depending on whether you want to narrowly target your topic, or leave yourself room to browse.Please note that the search engine will retrieve information from the cataloged data only, not from the full text of the resources.
Keyword. You can type any word, words, or phrase into this box. Subject. Select a subject from the dropdown menu, and click Search. This will retrieve, alphabetically by title, all of the records in the broad category you have selected. Depending on the subject, this may be a large number of resources.Grade level. This may be specified alone, or in combination with any other search parameters. Please note that most of our resources are appropriate for a range of grade levels. If you enter 6th grade, for example, you will retrieve all records which either specify "6th grade" in particular, or which specify a range that includes 6th grade. Combination searching. You may use any combination of the above criteria. Browsing. The "Browse By" options on the left-hand side of the screen are really the same thing as specifying a single search criterion. (For example, browsing by "Professional Development" will get you the same record set as if you had chosen "Professional Development" as a main subject.) They will tend to retrieve large numbers of records. You have four browsing options: 1. Title browsing displays all K-12 at UW resources in alphabetical order. You may jump to any letter of the alphabet by using the strip at the top of the screen.Links. The K-12 at UW portal features a few links to other resources; some of these may be external to the UW system. These links are generally supplied by the creator(s) of the individual K-12 resource.
