JCE High School Chemed Learning Information Center (CLIC)
High school chemistry teachers will find this Web site extremely useful. CLIC collects and organizes Journal of Chemical Education (JCE) resources to fit the special instructional needs of high school teachers. Direct access to a monthly column featuring information about meetings, workshops, and awards is included. It also provides professional development help. Useful links to articles and activities featured in JCE are also included. Certain resources require a subscriber password, but several features and selected complimentary issues are available to all. Teachers may be interested in the "Chemistry Teacher Connection," which offers an online-only subscription to CLIC (including subscriber password), along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, for $40 a year.

Junior Science, Engineering, and Humanities Symposium
This symposium is a two-day, expenses-paid program that includes seminars, demonstrations, visits with research scientists, workshops for high school students and teachers, and student research presentations. The symposium's goal is to promote research and experimentation in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering at the high school level. Emphasizing the active processes and applications of scientific inquiry and investigation, the symposium introduces teachers and students to areas of exciting research they might otherwise not encounter, and updates teachers on the latest advances in various scientific and mathematical areas. The UW–Madison College of Engineering, the Academy of Applied Science, the U.S. Army Research Office, and the U.S. Office of Naval Research sponsor the symposium. Requirements: Teachers and students are nominated by their schools to attend. Submission of a research paper or workshop abstract is encouraged, but not required, of student attendees. Research competition deadline is in December; symposium deadline is in January.
