Any person accessing the ide@s Portal Website (defined as a User) agrees to the following terms and conditions:

Welcome to ide@s and thank you for reading our User Agreement. The following rules govern the use of the ide@s Portal Website. These rules apply to all materials, online communications and other information that is or becomes available on ide@s. By signing on and/or using ide@s as a guest, you specifically agree to abide by these rules and any future modifications.

(1) Uses Permitted
Many of the materials users will find on ide@s do not belong to ide@s, but rather are linked to from the portal. Users agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth by the owners of any content found through ide@s.

The use of any ide@s owned content on any other Web site or networked computer environment is expressly prohibited without consent of ide@s or the University of Wisconsin. All trademarks, servicemarks, and trade names are proprietary to ide@s and its partners.

(2) User's Obligation to Abide by Applicable Law
In connection with the use of ide@s, you agree to abide by all applicable federal, state or local laws, including those relating but not necessarily limited to such areas as libel, slander, defamation, trade libel, product disparagement, harassment, invasion of privacy, tort, obscenity, indecency, and copyright or trademark infringement. The information available on ide@s may include intellectual property that is protected under the copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws of the United States and/or other countries. The materials found through ide@s are educational in nature and all users agree to follow guidelines set forth by the owners of any materials on ide@s.

(3) Disclosure of Online Communications
You are cautioned that any online communications may not be fully confidential. You should be aware that federal postal regulations do not protect electronic mail. You should also aware that administrative personnel of ide@s may, in the course of their regular duties, have access to communications for technical or operational purposes. ide@s may also disclose any communications to the extent required by law.

(4) Protection Against Malicious Programming
ide@s will make every effort to ensure the safety of content posted to the Web site. However, downloading of software or other materials or any other use of the information on ide@s is at your own risk. You are advised to take adequate precautions to minimize any loss to your system caused by malicious programming (e.g. virus, worms), including use of anti-virus programs and proper backup of files. Posting malicious programming to ide@s is prohibited.

(5) Content
ide@s will enlist the integrity of its partners to become a trusted service. ide@s reserves the right to review any information that is or becomes available on this Web site. ide@s reserves the right to refuse to post or to remove any information that is, in its sole discretion deemed, unacceptable, and undesirable or in violation of these rules or Wisconsin State Law. However, ide@s has no obligation to exercise such reservation of rights.

As a site that provides access to a wide variety of high-quality, educational resources, users may occasionally encounter information or images that users deem unsuitable for students of certain ages.

(6) Disclaimer
Many of the pages in the ide@s Portal Web Site contain hypertext links to pages created and/or maintained by other public and private organizations. These links are provided for the user's convenience. Neither TEACH Wisconsin, UW-Extension, UW-System, nor any members of the ide@s Coalition control or guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of this outside information. Further, the inclusion of these items is not intended to reflect their importance, nor is it intended to endorse any views expressed, products or services offered, or the organizations sponsoring the sites.

(7) Release and Indemnity
ide@s cannot be liable for any circumstance that may result from the use or inability to use the Web site due to delays in operation or transmission or any other failure of performance.

User assumes all responsibility for use of the ide@s Portal Website. The User waives all claims against ide@s, its financial sponsors, coalition members and affiliated organizations, directors, employees, and programmers that may arise from use of the ide@s Portal Website.

(8) Modifications
This User Agreement may be modified by ide@s from time to time. Such modifications will be binding on all site visitors as soon as they appear online.
